Welcome to my blog. Give me a second to clear out some of the cobwebs...
There, now it's good as new.
I have not posted here since March. In my defense, I was on a sabbatical the past couple of weeks, and the weeks before that were spent trying to prepare for being out of the office that long.
Having time away from the office is the greatest gift I could ever ask for. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the office. Not because it is spacious, peaceful, or comfortable - he says with a hint of sarcasm - but because I love the people I work with and I enjoy being a part of this great ministry to Stafford, VA. Plus, I like to poke beehives and rock the boat, and everyone here is really accepting of that side of my personality. When I do that at home, it tends to make Mikki angry or worried, or even worse, she goes along with it, which takes all the fun out of it. Rocking the boat is no fun when nobody screams and holds onto the sides.
Anyhoo...
My time away was great. I painted my man-cave. It used to be a craft room, and there were flowers painted on the walls. My Batman action figures didn't look cool standing next to flowers. I picked a manly looking neutral color, and now it looks much better.
I also spent a lot of time studying and hanging out with God. I'd love to say that I had some great method for studying scripture, but I didn't. In fact, my daughter was helping me move my stuff to paint, and when she moved my Bible, it ended up laying on the floor, wide open. So that's where I started, right where it was opened. Turned out to be in 2 Chronicles, and I spent alot of time reading about the kings of Israel. It was fitting because their successes and failures all were the results of priorities.
I already knew I had priority issues, but I'm glad that I had a couple weeks off to talk to God about them. I hope I'm better now. I pray that I can learn to put God, family, and ministry before video games, ipod, and comic books. In the midst of fixing my priorities, I hope I don't go so long without updating this thing again. If not, then I'll talk to you again in June! Bye then.
